Gestalt:

An exhibition of new monochromatic work by Paul Hillon and Liam Symes

“All perceiving is also thinking, all reasoning is also intuition, all observation is also intervention.” -Rudolph Arnheim 1954

Gestalt is the combination of two artists with different practices working in parallel. In the first instance appropriated materials are subjected to reduction and overlay - exploring new figurative elements without need for narrative or explanation. Combined with this is a making process that highlights the fundamental basics found in shape and form, removing complexity and depleting of original states. In both cases, the acceptance of difference is recognised but the use of a monochromatic language throughout the work invites the viewer to find closure through similarity
